Nutrimetics Ingredient Policy

Animal Testing

Nutrimetics does not conduct or commission any animal tests on any product at any time during or after development or launch of the product.

Animal Derived

No ingredient can be animal derived, where such derivation refers to material destructively obtained. Hence materials harvested in a non-harmful manner are acceptable, e.g. Honey and Beeswax, Milk and Whey Proteins.

“Animal” in this sense refers to animals, birds, fish, shellfish, insects etc. This definition is intended to cover all living organisms, which are not plant or unicellular life forms.

The following ingredients cannot be used in any of the Nutrimetics skincare ranges:
  • Carmine (animal cruelty)
  • Cholesterol (animal derived)
  • Placenta (animal derived)
  • Shark Cartilage (animal derived)
  • Hyaluronic Acid from animal source (rooster derived)

Product Safety

We take care to ensure the human safety of all our products by using only safe and gentle ingredients.

The following ingredients cannot be used in any of the skincare ranges:

  • Lauryl Sulfate (known irritant), including Ammonium-, Sodium-, and MEA-.
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids (at level greater than 10% and pH lower than 4 – regulated by authority).
  • Triethanolamine and DEA contained materials e.g. Cocamide DEA, Lauramide DEA (except when secondary amine <5% and maximum Nitrosamine content 50ppm).
  • D4 silicone – (please note this may appear in a trace amount under the typically specified level of <0.5% (Dow Corning).
  • Formaldehyde.
  • Rosemary Oil (known irritant).
  • Tea Tree Oil (known irritant).
  • All Wheat, Spelt, Barley and Rye derivatives that are not certified gluten-free.

Regulatory

We strictly abide by the (inter-) national legal and regulatory requirements. All ingredients must be acceptable to any regulations covering import or use within all local and international markets, with the exception of Japan.

Our regulatory review covers the following Nutrimetics international markets: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, USA, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, and The Netherlands.

Natural

Where a (commercially or technically) reasonable choice exists between synthetic and natural, the natural option should be used.

Unless exemption has been strategically agreed for specific sub-brands, the following ingredients cannot be used in any skincare ranges:

  • Perceptibly petroleum derived ingredients e.g. Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Isoparaffin.
  • Nylon.

Genetically Modified

Genetically modified materials should be avoided where possible. This means that where a reasonable choice exists between modified and non-modified, the non-modified option should be used.
